Short answer: To assess a 1/24 RC crawler, separate scale, controls and mechanical specifications. The FMS FCX24M Range Rover has a G3 transmitter with a three-channel radio system, a two-speed transmission and a 050 motor. It uses solid front and rear axles, not portal axles.

This is a guide to reading those specifications, rather than a performance comparison. All model-specific details refer to the yellow FCX24M Range Rover. A similar model name or the same scale is not enough to establish that another vehicle has the same equipment.

Scale describes proportions, not equipment

The 1:24 label tells you the model's scale. It does not specify the motor, number of gears, battery or radio system. FMS lists the Range Rover's actual dimensions as 227 × 103 × 120 mm and its wheelbase as 134 mm.

How are the main controls arranged?

The official manual identifies the G3 steering wheel as channel 1, the throttle trigger as channel 2 and a three-position switch as channel 3. The system uses 2.4 GHz radio and an FMS-R3A receiver. The package image identifies the included transmitter as G3 V3.

Those labels help you recognise the controls, but they do not replace the operating instructions. Before driving, follow the manual's setup guidance and check that steering and throttle respond in the intended direction. Do not change trim, reverse or travel settings at random to work around an unfamiliar response.

Keep the vehicle in sight. The manual contains different distance figures for the complete model and radio component specifications, so this guide does not promise a particular operating range.

What is the purpose of two-speed transmission?

The FCX24M comes with two gears. FMS describes low gear as the crawling setting and high gear as the faster driving setting. Read the instructions for operating the fitted controls before changing gear.

Two gears give you two operating choices; they are not evidence that the model beats every single-speed crawler. There is no verified top-speed figure in this guide, and a gear choice alone cannot guarantee that a route is suitable.

Solid axles and the portal-axle distinction

The manufacturer is explicit about this model: the FCX24M manual says that portal axles have not been used. It describes solid front and rear axles mounted to a metal chassis. The product page specifies C-channel metal chassis rails.

When comparing listings, look for the exact model name FCX24M. Do not transfer a feature from an FCX24 listing simply because the names are close. For this Range Rover, use the stated 28 mm minimum ground clearance, rather than a generic claim about portal-axle clearance.

What do the motor and metal-gear claims cover?

The listed motor is a 050 unit. FMS also states that the front and rear axles contain metal bevel gears and that the model has metal ball bearings. These are specific component claims.

They do not establish that every gear in the transmission is metal or that the steering servo has metal gears. Nor do they provide a measured torque, towing capacity or service life. A useful specification tells you what is fitted without turning one component detail into a whole-vehicle promise.

Body, lighting and optional details

The Range Rover uses an ABS hard body and has a factory-installed roof rack. The manual states that the headlights are pre-installed, while other lighting positions are provided for additional lighting. The product page describes warm-tone LED lights.

Do not assume that all roof and rear lamp positions are illuminated out of the box. Similarly, additional scale decorations shown in photographs should be checked against the package list: the manual describes a range of accessories available separately.

Battery figures need context

The vehicle battery is a 7.4 V, 380 mAh 2S LiPo. FMS gives an approximate operating duration of 30 minutes in the manual. Treat that as a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed session length or a RockCrawl test result.
